April 13, 2012 - DAY 1

Today didn't go as well as I wished. I was unable to catch my dad at any time to sit down and speak French, so I tried to make up for it with other things.

I found a great website called "The French Experiment" (http://www.thefrenchexperiment.com/home.php) where they translate childrens stories into french. You can listen to the person speak, turn on the translations, or just read the story on your own.

I read "Le Petit Chaperon Rouge" (Little Red Riding Hood"). I first read the entire story out loud on my own, then listened to the french narrator speak. After hearing the speaker, I turned on the translations to compare my understanding.

I also watched a quick clip from 20 Minutes Tv, a french news site (http://www.20minutes.fr/). It was a segment called "The Rewind" (Le Rewind). From what I could understand, The Lion King came to theaters in 3D, and a drama group from "Your Daily Dose of Drama" demonstrated a crazy performance with shooting, ambulances, bikers, firefighters, and more, right in the middle of the street! Last, but definitely not least, a pair of boxers with animated pictures of all the French president candidates was made for sale.

Bonjour! Welcome to my Lifelong Learning Project Blog!!

Welcome to my blog! Here, I will be documenting my French I project as I practice learning the french language and immerse myself in the french culture. I will be practicing french with my dad, emailing a penpal in french, watching french movies, making french recipes, and reading french books and newspapers. Every night, I will put up one blog post consisting of all that I have done that day, with pictures and animations.

I hope you enjoy the journey!
